Are the essentials covered?
Cyber security has never been more of a high priority than it is today. We have all heard the news and ever-present risks to UK technology and all businesses that rely on its infrastructure. We are all part of the process whether you have a multi-site/national/international firm or a local micro business the threats are all the same. Any way in, is a good way in for a crippling data/ security attack. One infected system can quickly become a large-scale virus attack across many businesses.
It’s not just a big business issue.

Due to current affairs the likelihood of attacks has increased, with many businesses having emerged from the pandemic with a different perspective on managing resources and keeping businesses going, wherever the resource is based. This is good for managing future events, but it could also increase the likelihood of an attack if IT systems are not maintained.
Check out the NSCS National Cyber Security Centre blog post in January 2022. This gives you a good overview of why this accessible certification is still relevant to business today and the improvements that have been made to the scope of requirements to keep the certificate relevant.
It doesn’t have to be this risky!
The relatively small cost of Cyber Essentials certification far outweighs the financial risk that a security breach may cost in the event of a cyber-attack. Phishing, ransomware, SQL injection (Sql1), or man in the middle (MitM) attacks and many more can all or in part render your business inoperable leaving your business data comprised, reputation damaged and your company out of action whilst it determines the scale and cost of the attack.
